Bee kind

It is possible that you will have flowers in your garden that don’t appear in our flower list. Let us explain why this is the case.

Firstly, to keep things simple, we have only included flowers that provide bees with a good source of food. This excludes some colourful flowers, which through years of selection for increasingly showy blooms have evolved to produce little or no pollen and nectar. We could have included these flowers with a score of zero but we wanted people to use our flower list as a library of bee-friendly flowers. Hence, we have left them out.

Secondly, we couldn’t include every bee-friendly flower so we drew the line at the top 150 recommended by our experts and supporters. We may add to this over time based on user feedback so, if you would like to tell us about a flower that is missing, please visit the Bee kind section of our forum.
